Responsible for the software systems that collected all the data to determine who received what part of a yearly 1/2 Billion Dollar sugarbeet payout. Directly responsible for the software and systems which collected the Quality data of the received sugarbeets. Also responsible for the hardware and software (through management of a direct report creating the software) of the system collecting the Weight data of the sugarbeets received at each of 44 scale houses.
Along with two other individuals, created the Factory Laboratory automation systems for both finished product analysis as well as the many liquid stream samples taken throughout the many unit stages of the factory process. These systems run in 6 factories, 2 MDS facilities, and 1 technical services center and consist of automatically collecting the data from the laboratory instrumentation, perform all calculations and formulas on collected raw data, and send the final data to all necessary destinations in a timely manner.
Developed a software application to collect data from 59 biometric (Schlage HandPunch 4000) time clocks across two time zones. The system collected the data every 15 minutes (24/7/365) creating an archive file of the data and passing the information on to the payroll system. The system collected 2300-2500 punches per day during harvest season and approximately 2000 punches per day the rest of the year.
Created a system to automatically collect data from packaging line checkweighers and stand alone certified scales to ensure quantity (weight) compliance. Selected the hardware (Comtrol DeviceMaster DM-2202 [P/N 99480-0]) and wrote the software (Visual Studio 2012) to collect over 4 million records (as of the time I retired from the company) for analysis, X-bar R charting, and fine tuning of the packaging process.
Developed, installed, and documented a system to weigh pulp, tailings, and shreds remotely from a guard house with no line of sight to the actual scales. Used Rice Lake 820i scale indicator, Rice Lake LaserLT RD-1550 remote display, and a Rice Lake TicketPress ticket printer along with serial tunneling across the site's LAN. Through the use of telephones and cameras at the scale house and a remote display and ticket printer in the guard house the guard on duty in the main guard house was able to weigh the pulp, tailings, and shred trucks empty and again once they are loaded so these weights can be captured to a ticket.
